Today 30th August 2016, I was called out by a regular customer, they had taken a call over the bank holiday weekend from a guy saying he was from B.T. (British Telecom) and needed to fix issues on their computer as it was running slow.
Unfortunately, my customer agreed and they got access to her PC using 2 programs, one is TeamViewer and the other is called Show My PC (both allow 3rd parties full access to your computer)

They text me a few hours after this occurred and I told them to leave the PC turned OFF until I got there today but unfortunately they did not power it off, so the hackers have had the system online all day and all night, so there could be any amount of spyware/keyloggers etc installed and because they had a Command Line open (by the customer) they could do all this and bypass Kaspersky and other security easily as they are online like a normal user.

My customer was asked to fill in an ONLINE form that asked for name/address/phone number etc and then Payment details, yes, they wanted paying of course, and the SMALL fee as the scumbag put it was just £100 – so they steal all your bank details, passwords etc then they want you to pay for the privilege!

Fraudulent call centres impersonating BT

We’re aware that some customers are being contacted by bogus companies fraudulently claiming to be or acting on behalf of BT.

The bogus company ‘spoof’ the number they are calling from so if you dial 1471 you may be presented with a fictitious number which masks the real destination. The caller may also offer you a call-back number to confirm the legitimacy of their call and will then answer as if linked to BT.

The caller might try to convince you that you have a fault or virus on your computer and may try to scare you by suggesting that your computer will stop working if you fail to take action and sign up for the services they’re offering.

We constantly monitor the network to safeguard our customers and if suspicious account activity is detected which makes us think that your account may be compromised or at risk, we’ll act to secure the account immediately and prompt you to change your password when you next log in and we never charge for support of this nature.

My customer said she felt the call was real as they had been on the phone to B.T. to report issues with the TV and broadband (is this a coincidence or is it someone on the inside leaking information) ?
I know this is a serious claim but after searching on google for a while you find things that open your eyes, like this post here from a guy who has also made technical calls to BT:
I then receive several calls to pay my bill, which of course I refuse and put the phone down. Then I get a call from BT Open Reach who knew my details and told me that my broadband has been disconnected by mistake and if I give them access to my computer they can fix it. Obviously a scam…and obviously the people who work for BT are passing on our details to these companies. Has anybody else had this problem. Please contact me on ****EDITED****

BT, VIRGIN, Microsoft etc will NEVER phone you to tell you your computer has a virus or is running slow! Simply HANG UP!
Do not be a statistic that funds terrorism and global hacking networks that use YOUR hard earned cash for criminal/war activity.

I started on computers back in the days of the Sinclair ZX81 and Spectrum, back when people were coming to terms with how great their new digital watch was. Even though I worked in DIY Shops, Fancy Goods, the building trade, DJ'ing etc, my main interest and passion was always in coding, graphics and games. I decided to take the plunge into computer shops in the mid 90's and in 2003 set up my own computer business. I have a simple work ethic which is I prefer to make a little money often, rather than charging a fortune and losing customers. This has proven to work for me and my customers. In all the years I have traded I have never advertised and yet each week, I get new customers through recommendations - there is no higher praise :)
