Hi everyone, I’m sure most of you are enjoying the heatwave, but I know for sure your computers, servers and NAS drives will be working extra hard to try and stay cool.
With this in mind I would strongly suggest that when/if you close for the weekend that you shut down everything that you can possibly shut down, especially your servers.
We have already had 3 fail this week and my 2 NAS units keep flashing up excessive heat warnings and then shutting down.
If you use laptops then the same rules apply, please just shut them down if you do not need it to be turned on.
If you are in an office and I have sent you this, please print it and ensure each staff member reads it.
It is possible that if this heat continues we need to replace the fans in some older computers, please keep an eye on system temperatures and ensure you shut them down when they are not being used, this will prolong the life of the hardware and hopefully save you a very expensive bill if the system overheats.
